To Position Yourself for Success You Need to Focus on the Whole Package!

I think most of my life has been blessed with a good amount of luck. I'm healthy, made some money, have a fantastic family - life is good. I truly believe a little luck and a burning desire will allow you to accomplish just about anything. Accomplishment makes you feel good and feeling good mentally and physically is the whole package - the essence of positioning yourself for success.

In my younger years I never set goals. I just floated from one thing to another. That is were the luck came in, my mentors set my course. Finally after many years I learned to set goals and wow, what a difference. Developing SMART goals is a very important strategy for achieving balance and positioning yourself for success. We all have different needs but there are some basics we all need to learn.

S: You need a specific goal. Specific, written goals have a greater chance of being accomplished.
M: You need to make your goal measurable, something you can attach value to, something you want to accomplish.
A: You must be sure your goal is attainable. Make a wise choice when setting goals being sure they are within reach.
R: You need to make your goals realistic. It must be something you believe in and that you have motivation to see it through.
T: You need to make it timely. Using a short time frame allows you to enjoy your progress, a sense of accomplishment.

Think back to when you were a kid, all you wanted to do is play. I have taught my teenager to finish his homework before he can play and I think he gets this concept better than most adults. Now we are working on the goal thing and it's coming. So please, take a few moments and write down your thoughts and dreams, these can be developed into your goals. Include goals for work, play, your health, romance, education, everything. When you include the "whole package" positioning yourself for success in life becomes easier. 

Just remember, be SMART while setting goals and you too will develop your "whole package" and be positioned for success.
